Solar Hot Water Installation Solar Hot Water

Did you know the earth receives more energy from the sun in one hour than people in the entire world use in a year?

Solar water heating generates loads of hot water, even when its not Sunny, providing 50% to 70% of your yearly hot water requirements.

They’re quickly installed, easily maintained and always work, even when the sun isn’t shining. This is because they use the sun’s radiation, not sunshine.

They can be fitted to most houses, no planning permission is usually needed and they just keep on pumping out energy no matter what the weather.

Benefits

Can provide you with 50% - 70% yearly hot water needs, for FREE.
Reduces your impact on the environment - the average domestic system reduces carbon dioxide emissions by around 325kg per year, depending on the fuel replaced.

Different types of system

What best suits your needs depends on a range of factors, including the area of south facing roof, we can install East/West facing panels if necessary, the existing water heating system (e.g. some combi boilers aren't suitable, MOST ARE) and your budget.

Contact us so we can assess your situation and discuss with you the best configuration to meet your needs.

The systems we install are evacuated tubes and flat plate panels, the evacuated tube design are more efficient and cheaper but the flat plate panels are more discreet.

Solar water heating and your home

For domestic hot water there are three main components: solar panels, a heat transfer system, and a hot water cylinder. Solar panels - or collectors - are fitted to your roof. They collect heat from the sun's radiation. The heat transfer system uses the collected heat to heat water. A hot water cylinder stores the hot water that is heated during the day and supplies it for use later.

Solar water heating can be used in the home or for larger applications, such as swimming pools.

Is my property suitable?

Preferably you will need 3-4m2 of southeast to southwest facing roof receiving direct sunlight for the main part of the day. You'll also need space to locate an additional water cylinder if required.

Cost and maintenance

The typical installation cost for a domestic system from us is £1,995 - £3,500. Prices start form £1,500 but as every system installed is bespoke and individual to the property these should only be considered as a guide line to cost, contact us for more information. Our solar hot water systems come with a 10-year warranty and require very little maintenance. A yearly check by the householder and a more detailed check by us every 3-5 years should be sufficient.
